FRIDAY FREEDOM: Earth, The Guest House

Happy Earth Day!

The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof; the world and all that dwell wherein. Psalm 24:1

As we celebrate Earth Day, let us remember that: We are guests in Someone else's house. So, let's enjoy it as if we owned it forever.

Here are 3 simple ways to reduce your carbon footprint today and everyday:

1. REDUCE: Reduce the amount of garbage you have by organizing your life. Do you really need retail therapy or boxes of midnight snacks? If you do, you will feel guilty and have to drive back to the store to return the items. Plus, shame will replace guilt when you need to buy a larger size because of all that excessive nibbling. Start the sanity, now.

2. REUSE: Bring your own lunch in a reusable, recyclable container. Pack that extra serving of seared salmon and kale or make your own menu. When the container falls apart, recycle it. You decide now. Your children's children will reap a harvest later.

3. RECYCLE: Before you throw last season's Louboutins away, find out how to give the shoes another life. Sell them at a Spring Cleaning Garage Sale. Remember, to check with your city for a permit. If you end up with unsold stuff, donate them to the Salvation Army. Drop them off or arrange for a pick-up. If you need something, buy it there. Your trash and cash become treasure to aid those in need.

How are you making conscious choices during your stay on Earth, The Guest House?
